Community

Are you familiar with Maple Hill Farms? If not, I hope you’ll find a moment to visit during your stay here. Tammy and Brian Michaelsen turned that little corner of the world into something truly special—a quaint farm store filled with handmade soaps, rich lotions, fresh meats, cheeses, and countless treasures born from their hands and hearts. They are the kind of people you don’t just meet—you feel their warmth, their genuine kindness, rooted deep like the earth they’ve cared for.

Once, their days were filled with the gentle rhythms of animals and the soft sounds of milking sheep, the very soul of farm life. But everything shifted in the summer of 2025, when Brian suffered a massive stroke. In an instant, their world was no longer the one they knew. The vision they had held for Maple Hill Farms, one crafted over years of sweat and hard work, changed.

Yet, something beautiful emerged. The very community they had been part of—neighbors and friends who understood what it meant to work hard and face life head-on—rose up in a wave of love and support. While Brian faced long months of hospital care, more than an hour away, others stepped quietly but powerfully into their shoes. The animals were cared for as if they were their own. The lawn, was mowed without asking. The garden, was nurtured with loving hands. So much more was done, often without words or fanfare, simply because people saw their need and met it.

This is more than a story about a farm. It’s about the unspoken bonds that tie us to one another—it’s about community. We are reminded that kindness, and resilience live in the smallest moments, the simplest acts, and the hearts of people who stand together.

This painting represents the community of people that care, the community that they didn’t even realize they had. This is their beautiful farm.
