A Happy Ending.
This sweet baby was born with a rare and life threatening blood disorder and spent the first part of his life in NICU. Fortunately, he survived and is now a thriving 16 year old.
He is being held by his GREAT grandmother and this was her first opportunity to meet him. This very strong and brave woman was able to pass her strong traits down.
I’ve studied this beautiful woman’s hands before, I feel like I know them. My friend Mary allowed me to help her with color selection when she chose to paint these beautiful hands of her mother. I know the tales of their years, their determination and dedication. I feel her character.
I really wanted to play with color on this painting. Push it, experiment. I think it may be my favorite of this series. Of course the turquoise is my favorite.

Hands of generations. Tiny hands seeking comfort, Grandma's hands offering security. My grandbaby was so tired, and sleepy, as you can see from her tiny fist raised to her eyes. Clutching my hand, she was seeking a safe space to fall asleep. Offering her my hand, I offered reassurance. I’m here, rest now.
