How We Begin

This page is here for those who want a little more clarity about what happens next.

Nothing here is a commitment. It’s simply information, offered with care.

Our first conversation

We begin with a conversation. This is not about making decisions or committing to anything. It’s a chance for us to talk things through and see if this work feels like the right fit.

You don’t need to know how to tell the story. You don’t need to have answers prepared. I listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and help clarify what matters most.

This conversation can happen by email, phone, Zoom, or in person when possible. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of whether moving forward feels steady for you.

There is no cost for this conversation.

The next step

If, after our initial conversation, it feels right to continue, we move into a deeper phase of the work.

This step begins with a $750 commitment. It allows me to step fully into the story and do the work that ensures the painting is grounded, accurate, and true before anything permanent is created.

This phase may include one or more conversations, reviewing photographs, archival images, or meaningful objects, and shaping the story into clear direction.

I first create a written story outline so we can confirm the emotional intent and boundaries of the work. Once that feels right, I create a digital composition to establish scale, mood, and overall direction.

You’ll have the opportunity for up to two minor revisions during this stage.

When the story and composition are approved, the $750 is applied to the final painting. However, if you hate the sketch, the $750 is returned in full.

Nothing moves forward unless what we’re creating feels steady and true.

The painting

Once the direction is clear, the painting itself begins.

This is the part where you can rest. I carry the work forward with care, attention, and restraint. Some people like progress updates, photos, or short videos. Others prefer to wait until the piece is complete. We’ll do what feels most comfortable for you.

Each painting is created using professional, archival materials and finished with intention, care, and respect for the story it holds.

Cost Range

Every commission is different, but most paintings fall within a range of $2,500–$5,000, depending on size and complexity. We talk through scope and options so the work feels considered and appropriate.

These paintings are created as lasting family pieces. They’re meant to live beyond a single home or moment, and to be returned to over time. Many families think of them less as a purchase and more as a family value they choose to carry forward.
